First of all, let's talk about the social issue I've chosen and why I've chosen it -
The social issue I've chosen to cover in my magazine is Domestic Abuse. In Pakistan, about 5000 women die every year because of Domestic abuse and about 10 to 20% of Pakistani women suffer frm domestic abuse.
When you look at these hige numbers you automatically assume that maybe the justice system i doing something for the abusers but no, in this country mostly all the abusers do not face any consequence for their actions and roam around the country very freely and sadly it's usually the victims who suffer - they suffer from getting blamed for getting abused, from PTSD and other mental health problems and so much more. And In the end it's the victim's character that gets judged and criticised.
Now let's talk about how I'm planning to show this in my magazine and who am I planning on casting -
My plan is to shoot with my model in relatively darker room with less lights and mostly try to show what I'm trying to show through the expressions of my model. I plan on casting my elder sister Imaan Fareed and take some extra / backup shots of my other sister Zoha Fareed. I'm planning to show bruises on the model's face with the help of make-up and try to show the emotions and feelings like pain, fear and hopelessness through the model's expressions and eyes.
And lastly, what locations am I shooting in? -
Since I plan on keeping the backgrounds simple and just plain white walls and a wooden door, nothing too complicated or hard to find at all as I'm planning to carry out the shoot in my own house and this way I can easily control the variables too and play with different props easily if required.
I want to keep the background as simple and plain as possible because firstly I want all pictures to be black and white and secondly I want all the attention on the model / subject.
