My Genre for the Magazine is Domestic Abuse / Violence. In Pakistan, etismatedly 5000 women die every year because of domestic abuse and sadly its still not given the attention and importance that it very much requires. It's also estimated that in Pakistan about 10 to 20% of women suffer from some kind of abuse.
Even after sooo many cases being exposed on social media and getting a lot of awareness and even after deaths of so many women (of all ages), the justice is still yet to be served.
I've always liked doing portrait photography and so I wanted to try my best to show my subject's emotions in my photography. I wanted to chose a topic where my photographs had as much impact as the text next to it does, so the readers / audience get the message I'm trying to give even if they don't read the articles next to it.
I first thought of making the magazine on depression but then I switched to Domestic Abuse because in my opinion it gave off a more stronger message and something that also requires more recognition and thought. Something that people need to start standing up for and something that requires all the attention it can get so it finally gets the justice it requires.
